This Torre de Palma Reserva clearly had a good sleep – nine months in French oak barrels with lees stirring – and the result is a seriously impressive wine. The meticulous hand-selection of the grapes, stored at a cool 3°C, speaks volumes about the producer’s dedication. Expect a rich, golden hue and a nose brimming with glazed yellow fruit, toasted almond, and a surprising whisper of sloe plum. On the palate, salinity and elegance reign supreme, underpinned by the robust character and lasting finish characteristic of the Alentejo, all built on a foundation of Arinto, Antão Vaz and Alvarinho. Absolutely fantastic with grilled fish, or for the truly adventurous, a beautifully paired carraco.
