This Quinta do Javali Vintage is undeniably a wine sculpted from wood and, frankly, dark fruits. Those notes of cooked plums, so prominent on the nose, hint at a long aging process, while dark chocolate adds an elegance that pleasantly surprised me. Coming from the ‘Vinhas Velhas’ vines, the concentration and tannins are so robust they give the wine a sculptural quality – it pairs beautifully with cured meats or a mature cheese.
