One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira—known as the Ferreirinha—and which remains today in the hands of her descendants. The Vallado wines were long forgotten, but they have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to occupy top positions. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Corgo River. The future of this emblematic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who oversee the company’s management and its oenology, respectively.
