This Cão Danado from Quinta do Pessegueiro certainly seems to have had a spirited youth! Harvested in September and transported in hefty 25kg crates – a clear sign of the producer’s commitment – the grapes were then foot-trodden in the press, maximising the expression of the Tinto Cão variety. Following 20 months ageing in old barrels with a well-managed malolactic fermentation, expect a wine with a notably intense character. It’d pair beautifully with game meats or a slow-cooked beef stew, no doubt.
