This white from Lisboeta’s Quinta do Rol certainly seems to have had a thoughtful, perhaps even slightly hesitant, youth. The brief skin contact with Arinto and Chardonnay hints at a certain reluctance to fully surrender, while the Pinot Grigio, after a 13-month maturation in French oak, unveils a more assured and layered personality. The inclusion of lees and battonages speaks to a producer unafraid of subtlety, resulting in a wine that, frankly, appears to have had some rather intense conversations during its maturation. Ideal with a grilled white fish to fully express its character.
