The Quinta do Sanguinhal Grande Escolha was produced with Castelão, Touriga Nacional and Aragonez. It aged for 36 months in French oak barrels, showing a deep garnet hue. Its elegant aroma displays ripe dark fruit, balsamic nuances, spices and a hint of tobacco. Firm tannins and an excellent balance of fruit, oak and acidity give the wine great gastronomic potential. The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company was founded in the 1920s by Abel Pereira da Fonseca in the Bombarral region. At the time, he owned the country’s largest network of retail outlets, which he leveraged to establish a company devoted solely to wine production and trade. The company comprises three estates—Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras and Quinta de São Francisco—located in the Lisbon Wine Region, specifically the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. These properties benefit from a microclimate shaped by the Montejunto Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, which imparts a fresh, balanced profile to still wines, fortified wines and spirits, highlighting their unique character.
