The red wine Quinta do Valdoeiro is a blend of Syrah, Baga, Touriga Nacional, and Cabernet Sauvignon. After 18 months of aging in French oak barrels it offers an intense, fresh, Atlantic‑inspired aroma, highlighting iodine‑infused notes, dark fruit, and a subtle vegetal nuance. On the palate it is refined and food‑friendly. Located in the parish of Vacariça, in the municipality of Mealhada, the Quinta do Valdoeiro was acquired by the Messias family in the 1940s. From 1985 onward, Messias—already making raw‑material control a key strategy for producing high‑quality wines—gradually converted the vineyard plots at Quinta do Valdoeiro. Today the estate covers 130 hectares, of which 70 hectares are devoted to viticulture. The property lies within an integrated protection zone, where vineyard pests are managed through environmentally safe methods. (Illustrative image only)
