Born from the historic Vinha da Coroa – a vineyard dating back to 1958 – this Quinta do Vallado is a testament to remarkable resilience. Remarkably, they pulled off a stunning harvest in 2018, weathering record-breaking heat and a surprisingly temperate winter. Vines aged 60-100 years battled drought, but careful fermentation – half with *engulho* and half without – delivered a complex flavour profile, complemented by 18 months of maturation in French oak barrels. This wine truly expresses its terroir, promising a remarkably persistent finish, a characteristic worthy of a wine that defied the odds. As Robert Parker and *Wine Enthusiast* (both awarding 93+/100) attest, it’s a serious achievement.
