This wine from Quinta do Vallado initially seemed a bit recalcitrant with its manual harvest, but the producer’s persistence with robotic assistance yielded a surprisingly concentrated result. Notes of oak and tobacco add a sophisticated layer, while fig and black cherry highlight the richness of the Douro Valley. It possesses a firm structure with incredibly smooth tannins, leading to a complex and long-lasting finish – perfect with a hearty, slow-cooked roast, of course.
