This “Mélange à Trois” from Dão, crafted by Quinta dos Carvalhais and Sogrape, is a frankly bold experiment that largely delivers on its promise. The blend of Encruzado, Gouveio, and Malvasia Fina bursts with dark fruit aromas – think black cherry – alongside a welcome citrus lift characteristic of the Dão region. The influence of French oak, used in partial ageing, adds a welcome layer of complexity without masking the authentic character of the grapes. A long, refined finish makes this particularly well-suited to seafood, especially grilled fish.
