Manel Chaves is the father of enologist Hugo Chaves from Quinta dos Monteirinhos. This wine is the result of a son’s longing after his father left early. He spent 15 months maturing in French oak barrels. With a ruby hue, it bursts with aromas of black fruit, eucalyptus, cocoa and tobacco. The texture is silky, with a fine, elegant finish. It pairs wonderfully with oven‑roasted meats and fish. The Monteiro Albuquerque family has been producing wine for over a century and seven generations. In 2006, the fifth generation of Monteirinhos launched a producer‑winery venture under its own label, reorganising the vineyards and building a new modern cellar. The project aims to honour the Beira Alta family’s heritage while elevating the excellence and elegance of Dão wines. (illustrative image only)
