“This wine, from Quinta Nova, clearly benefited from a rather intense, almost forensic, approach. The meticulous hand-selection of the grapes – with a particular focus on the ‘terroir’ – reflects a genuine desire to coax maximum expression from their ‘Vinhas Velhas’ – a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Aragonez. The fermentation, rigidly controlled with added yeast and low temperatures, was further refined through two daily ‘delastages’ – a commitment to keeping the wine exceptionally clean. The six-month aging in French oak undoubtedly contributed vanilla and spice notes, which pair beautifully with red meat. As confirmed by the 96 points awarded by Decanter and 95 by Decanter Magazine, it’s a safe bet for a serious steak, wouldn’t you say?”
