The Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is a place of extraordinary beauty, in the heart of the Douro, and has been owned by the Amorim family since 1999. The family's connection to wine stretches far back, through its ties to exporting houses in Vila Nova de Gaia via the cork trade, but in this instance that connection materialised into the fulfilment of a dream, and the project now rests in the hands of the fourth generation of the family. With a history of over 250 years, the estate boasts a preserved cellar trace and the original 1764 wine‑cellar building, following interventions by architect Arnaldo Barbosa.
