The Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is an exceptionally beautiful setting, in the heart of the Douro, and has been owned by the Amorim family since 1999. The family’s connection to wine stretches far back through their ties to export houses in Vila Nova de Gaia, via the cork business, but in this instance that link realized a dream and the project is now in the hands of the fourth generation of the family. With a history of over 250 years, the estate showcases a well‑preserved heritage and the original 1764 cellar building, after interventions led by architect Arnaldo Barbosa. (illustrative image)
