This unoaked Douro, born from a vineyard over 250 years old, clearly shows it’s been treated with a healthy dose of respect. Young Carmo, with the guidance of Architecto Arnaldo Barbosa, have crafted a vibrant wine, perfectly embodying the elegance you’d expect from a quinta with roots in cork production. You’ll find notes of violet and fresh red berries, underpinned by a subtle balsamic touch, hinting at a remarkable youthfulness. The light tannins and pleasing finish suggest a minimalist approach – little intervention – resulting in a wine that, while promising, would certainly benefit from a hearty accompaniment, perhaps a good Iberian ham.
