The Quinta Vale D. Maria, located in the heart of the Douro, in the Cima Corgo—more precisely in the Vale do Rio Torto—has a history dating back to 1868. However, a new era of excellence began in 1996 when Cristiano van Zeller acquired his wife Joana Lemos van Zeller’s family estate. Over more than two decades, Cristiano has led a dedication‑and‑passion project, producing unique wines of recognized quality both in Portugal and abroad. The 2017 acquisition by the Aveleda group continues this legacy, adding a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy hinges on a passion for every detail: from the manual selection of the best bunches, through traditional winemaking techniques, to the careful choice of the finest French oak barrels. A commitment to a sustainable viticulture model remains a priority, ensuring wine quality while respecting natural resources. (illustrative image only)
