This Arinto from Óbidos, boasting V.Q.P.D. – D.C. Lisboa status, clearly spent a long time chatting with the Atlantic. Just 20 kilometres from the ocean and 15 from the Serra do Montejunto gives it a wonderfully saline character – I’m betting seafood would absolutely adore it. Hand-harvested and gently pressed, the winemaking process ensures the fruit finds its way into stainless steel, where a 12-month lees ageing adds even more depth and complexity. Seriously, a pairing with poultry or cured pork is a solid choice, but frankly, this wine deserves a plate of seafood to truly reveal its soul.
