QM Patriam is a unique wine, produced exclusively from Alvarinho grapes of the Monção and Melgaço sub‑region, from a single lot of four harvests. With an intense citrine colour and crystal‑clear appearance, it offers fresh floral aromas with hints of dried fruit that lend it some complexity. On the palate it is full‑bodied and very soft, with plenty of freshness and fruity notes, underpinned by excellent acidity, and ending long and very persistent. The rarity of the Alvarinho grape, its low production and distinction means that these grapes are the most valuable in Portugal. The quality of the grapes comes from natural soil and microclimate conditions, but also from the careful cultural practices of those who tend the vines delicately and judiciously select the optimal ripening stage for harvest – a critical phase for defining the wine’s performance. In the winemaking process, Quintas de Melgaço follows traditional enological methods and practices, considered most suitable for the sub‑region, which help to extract all the quality of the grapes that arrive at the cellar. It is in this phase that Quintas de Melgaço carefully imparts its own distinctive identity to the wines it produces. Before bottling, specialist technicians ensure that the wine has the correct chemical composition, is properly clear, and demonstrates quality in testing. For certification, the wine is submitted to the laboratory of the Vitivinic Commission of the Verde Wine Region, which, after approval, issues the guarantee seals. Great care is taken with the quality of the bottle and cork, so that the wine ages well in the bottle and displays good behaviour in the glass. (image merely illustrative)
