This Clarete from the Dão, hailing from the Bairrada, certainly appears to be a wine of quiet contemplation. The winemaking – with full délestage and partial maceration – hints at a reserved character, alongside a good burst of fruit intensity. That four-year aging in stainless steel is clearly paying off, ensuring the vibrant acidity of the Alfrocheiro and Aragonez, coupled with the elegance of the Touriga Nacional, remains beautifully present. A truly age-worthy wine, it would pair wonderfully with grilled beef, perhaps with a hint of pepper, to really coax out its complexities.
