Surrounded by a stream that flowed every year—even in very dry years—it earned the nickname Quinta do Ribeiro Santo from a priest. The family of Carlos Lucas bought it in 1994 and immediately replanted the vines, launching the first bottled wine under its own label in 2000. The vines follow the traditional Dão planting on poor granite soil with large rocky outcrops from which the Serra da Estrela is visible, and its wines mirror the Dão terroir, embracing its typical varieties. Magnum‑Carlos Lucas Vinhos was founded in 2011 in Carregal do Sal and is intrinsically linked to the producer and winemaker who gives it its name, as well as to Quinta do Ribeiro Santo, where its headquarters and winemaking facilities are located.
