This Roboredo from the Douro Superior, boasting vineyards nearing fifty years old, certainly seems to have absorbed a few tales along the way. The “field blend” – predominantly Sousão with a touch of Touriga Nacional – delivers a truly exuberant burst of ripe fruit, laced with intriguing spice notes that suggest a journey across continents. The extended maceration, coupled with 20 months aging in French oak, has resulted in a wine with a structure that demands a little time to unfold. However, don’t be deterred – this is a bottle with the potential for a captivating, slow evolution, perfect with roasted beef and a well-aged cheese.
Tinto
Sousão, Touriga Francesa, Tempranillo, Aragonez, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Francisca
