The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scottish native of Perth who decided to invest £300, borrowed from his father, in a venture to market Port and Sherry wines. Always pioneering, Sandeman was the first company to mark a fire barrel with its name, guaranteeing the quality of the wine it sold. Over more than two centuries, Sandeman has built its success on a rare capacity for innovation and on expertise passed down from generation to generation. Today, led by the Portuguese company Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman clearly positions itself as the global brand of Port and Sherry, proudly proclaiming: "Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure."
