The São Domingos Garrafeira 2016 is an elegant, structured red wine crafted from Touriga Nacional, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It is aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, offering intense aromas of ripe red fruit, subtle floral hints, and delicate toasted undertones. On the palate it delivers excellent body, well‑integrated tannins, and gentle spice notes, finishing with a long, seductive, and persistent finish. Since 1937 the company Caves do Solar de São Domingos has produced sparkling wines, aged spirits, bagasse spirit, and Bairrada and Dão wines. Its cellars house more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, thousands of bottled wines, and hundreds of French oak barrels for its renowned wine spirits. The “São Domingos” bagasse spirit, produced in its own distilleries, continues to lead the market with its enduring quality. In 2006 a modern winemaking centre was inaugurated, enabling the reception of a thousand tonnes of grapes from the company’s own estates and from growers partnered with the firm. Constant innovation in production and winemaking has elevated the quality and prestige of the house’s wines, reinforcing São Domingos’ competitive edge. Wine tourism is also a winning proposition, enchanting thousands of visitors each year with the beauty of the rock‑cut galleries, the millions of bottles, as well as the showroom, reception hall, and museum with a tasting room—integral parts of the Bairrada Route.
