The São Domingos Garrafeira 2016 is an elegant, structured red wine crafted from Touriga Nacional, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It spends twelve months maturing in French and American oak barrels, revealing intense aromas of ripe red fruit, floral hints, and subtle toasty nuances. On the palate it delivers excellent body, well‑integrated tannins, and delicate spice notes, culminating in a long, seductive finish that lingers with great persistence. Since 1937, Caves do Solar de São Domingos has produced sparkling wines, aged brandies, bagaceira brandy, and Bairrada and Dão wines. Its cellars house more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, tens of thousands of bottled wines, and hundreds of barrels of French oak for its renowned vinic brandies. The “São Domingos” Bagaceira brandy, made in its own distilleries, continues to lead the market with its classic quality. In 2006 a modern winemaking centre was inaugurated, enabling the reception of a thousand tonnes of grapes from the company’s own vineyards and from growers working in partnership. Continuous innovation in production and winemaking processes has raised the quality and prestige of the house wines, reinforcing the competitive edge of the São Domingos brand. Enotourism is also a winning proposition, dazzling thousands of visitors each year with the beauty of the rock‑cut galleries, the millions of bottles, and the showroom, hall, and museum featuring a tasting room—an integral part of the Bairrada Route.
