Lopo de Freitas Branco is made exclusively from Viognier grapes grown in sandy‑clay soils that receive excellent sun exposure and are situated along the Atlantic coast. The wine offers a unique aromatic exuberance, unveiling a profusion of citrus aromas intertwined with delicate floral notes and a hint of toasty nuance. On the palate it is full‑bodied and smooth, with an intense flavor profile and surprising mineralism and balance. Since 1937 the Caves do Solar de São Domingos company has been producing sparkling wines, aged brandies, bagasse brandy, Bairrada and Dão wines. Its cellars hold more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, thousands of bottled wines, and hundreds of French oak barrels for its famed vinic brandies. The São Domingos Bagasse Brandy, produced in its own distilleries, continues to lead the market with its consistent quality. In 2006 a modern winemaking centre was opened, capable of receiving a thousand tonnes of grapes from the company’s own vineyards and partner growers. Constant innovation in production and winemaking techniques has raised the quality and prestige of the house’s wines, strengthening São Domingos’ brand competitiveness.
