Since 1937, the company Caves do Solar de São Domingos has been producing sparkling wines, aged brandies, bagaceira brandy, and Bairrada and Dão wines. Its cellars house more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, tens of thousands of bottled wines, and hundreds of barrels of French oak for its renowned wine brandies. The “São Domingos” Bagaceira brandy, produced in its own stills, continues to lead the market with its enduring quality. In 2006 a modern winemaking centre was inaugurated, capable of receiving a thousand tonnes of grapes from both its own estates and growers partnering with the company. Continuous innovation in production and winemaking processes has raised the quality and prestige of the house’s wines, strengthening São Domingos’ brand competitiveness. Wine tourism is also a winning venture, dazzling thousands of visitors each year with the beauty of rock‑cut galleries, the millions of bottles, and the showroom, hall and museum with a tasting room—making it an integral part of the Bairrada Route.
