Since 1937 the Caves do Solar de São Domingos have produced sparkling wines, aged brandies, bagaceira brandy, and Bairrada and Dão wines. Their cellars hold more than two million bottles of sparkling wine, thousands of bottled wines, and hundreds of French oak vats for their famed wine brandies. The São Domingos Bagaceira brandy, made in its own stills, continues to dominate the market with its enduring quality. In 2006 a modern winemaking centre was opened, capable of receiving a thousand tonnes of grapes from the company’s own estates and from growers who partner with them. Continuous innovation in production and winemaking has raised the quality and prestige of the house’s wines, strengthening São Domingos’ commercial competitiveness. Wine tourism is also a winning bet, dazzling thousands of visitors each year with the beauty of the rock‑cut galleries, the millions of bottles, and the showroom, hall and museum with a tasting room, making it an integral part of the Bairrada Route.
