This “Lord Doctor” is a seriously bold project from the Alentejo, showcasing 100% Touriga Nacional with a frankly surprising intensity, even for Philip Mollet and António Maçanita – their consulting winemaker. The nocturnal harvest and extended 20-day “cuvaison” in new French oak barrels have resulted in a robust and complex wine, boasting hints of bergamot and rock candy that would undoubtedly delight Portugal’s ‘Queen’ grape. As recognised by the Credit Agricola Wine Competition 2024 jury, it certainly deserves top marks – perfect alongside a perfectly grilled beef or a hearty roast.
