This Silk and Spice is a real journey for the palate – that deep ruby colour suggests it’s hiding a few secrets. Predominantly showcasing ripe black fruit, with a hint of compote, it’s a surprisingly complex wine, almost as if it’s spent some time maturing in the cellar of a particularly well-travelled adventurer. The balance of tannins, derived from Baga and Touriga Nacional, alongside the acidity from the Syrah, delivers a remarkably smooth and memorable drinking experience. I’d recommend pairing it with a slow-roasted beef or a lovely lamb dish.
