Every wine has a story, and the origin of Soalheiro is a bit of a mystery. It was already the name of an agricultural plot prized for its generous sun exposure, where in 1974 the first continuous Alvarinho vineyard was planted in Melgaço. Forty years ago—on March 20, 1982—the first brand of Alvarinho from Melgaço, Soalheiro, was born.
