Tapada do Chaves Reserva is the product of blending Aragonez, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet from the Moutas vineyard and from an ancient plot planted in 1901, situated at an altitude between 350 and 400 m. It presents a deep garnet hue and a powerful concentration, unveiling an aromatic tapestry of wild fruit, cedar, resin, earth and leather, tinged with balsamic nuances. On the palate it is elegant, generous in volume, with a pronounced mature fruit that embodies the classic Alentejo profile. The tannins are firm, the acidity bright, and the overall structure balanced and enveloping. The wine is produced in the environs of Portalegre, in the heart of Alto Alentejo, where the Tapada do Chaves estate has been crafting quality wines for nearly a century, ranking among Portugal’s best. The estate’s wines capture the region’s warmth and softness while reflecting a strong family tradition and a lifelong devotion to the land. Harvested from vines aged between 15 and 85 years on the estate’s namesake vineyard, these wines are meant to be cellared and enjoyed later in full.
