Tecedeiras Este Tawny Reserve – produced and aged on the estate – is renowned for its versatility and authentic profile, with a concentrated colour and delightful notes of almonds and dried figs. Made from wines sourced from old vines – a field blend – and selected from four harvests, this is a fine Port to share after dinner, offering caramel and toasted nuances that make it lighter than many other Tawny Ports. **Terroir** Situated in the heart of the Douro, next to Ervedosa do Douro and five kilometres from the village of Pinhão, the Quinta das Tecedeiras is bathed by the Douro River, and its terroir is perfect – the kind of site any winemaker dreams of for crafting a great wine. The soils are slate, with north and west exposure, and the vineyards lie between 90 m and 190 m above sea level. The grapes mature well, delivering a high concentration of aromas and flavours. When the vineyards were converted, care was taken to preserve some ancient plots, about a hundred years old, for producing the estate’s flagship wines and its Ports. The grape varieties are many, dominated by Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela and Tinto Cão. The vines grow on terraces on steep slopes. Usually, grape ripening occurs between the second and fourth week of September. **Vinification** This Port reflects the natural conditions of the estate and the great care devoted to its vineyards. The Port is produced only in years where we can assure exceptional quality. The grape brandy is supplied by the finest distillers and is selected for its purity and neutral aroma and taste, allowing our grapes to convey their most genuine character. For similar reasons, we harvest the grapes only at full maturity, enabling the winemaker to use the minimum amount of brandy possible.
