This Encruzado from Terra Chama, grown on a 23-year-old vineyard, certainly has a story to tell. The careful hand-harvesting and selection – using 20kg boxes, including the second best grapes – hints at a level of attention, doesn’t it? Fermentation in stainless steel and aging in both new and used French oak adds complexity, though perhaps not quite the transcendence the producer suggests! It boasts a medium straw colour and a pine resin aroma. But the real star is the vibrancy and intense mineral notes, giving this wine a remarkably fresh finish – perfect with grilled fish or roasted chicken with herbs.
