Founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas and later continued by Germana Freitas and Ermelinda Freitas, the family has always given special attention to the wine. From the first generation, this house has focused on the quality of its vineyards and wines, which were originally produced and sold in bulk without a private label. Under the current management of Leonor Freitas, a major change was made, and in 1997 a new cycle began for this long‑standing family business, with the first wine produced and bottled under the name Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
