Founded in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas, the house was later continued by Germana Freitas and then Ermelinda Freitas, who each gave special attention to the wine. From the very first generation, the family has invested in the quality of its vineyards and wines, initially producing and selling them in bulk without a proprietary label. The significant change came under the current management of Leonor Freitas, and in 1997 a new chapter began for this century‑old family business, marked by the first wine produced and bottled under the name Casa Ermelinda Freitas.
