This Textura da Estrela is a passionate tribute to the Dão, specifically from the Serra da Estrela. Crafted from vines aged 25 to 60 years, it’s a remarkably complex wine, primarily built on Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional. The granite terroir – a seriously demanding one, thanks to those rigorous winters – lends a pronounced mineral and earthy character, with a surprising hint of kerosene that’s almost reminiscent of a fine port. The tannins are unbelievably silky, and the finish is begging for a hearty grilled beef dish. Quite simply, it’s a masterpiece that defies description, promising an even more refined evolution with age.
