This Titular Dão Novo seems to have had a rather peculiar journey in its making. The carbonic maceration, handled with the finesse one expects from this grape variety, already imparts a distinctiveness translating into an explosion of strawberry and raspberry aromas – as if the grapes themselves were enjoying a summer picnic. The palate is incredibly smooth, with tannins so rounded they almost feel velvety. Evidently, the Grandes Escolhas critic (16.5 points!) deemed it a “sui generis” wine, suggesting this Titular Dão Novo isn’t content to simply be a good wine, but one with a truly unique identity. Absolutely delightful paired with pâtés and fresh cheeses.
