It seems our friend Vajra's been taking a bit of a gamble here, blending a rather eclectic mix of grapes – Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, Barbera, Freisa and the local Albarossa. The Burgundian Pinot Noir brings a deliciously subtle sweetness, while the Italian varieties offer a vibrant, energetic lift. Definitely a wine that deserves a rich, flavourful accompaniment, perhaps a perfectly cooked venison haunch to tame its intensity.
