One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and which remains in the hands of its descendants to this day. The Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten and have now naturally recovered lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to be among the top spots. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest in the Douro. It is located just outside Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The future of this iconic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, responsible for the company’s management and enology, respectively.
