One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and remains today in the hands of her descendants. Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten but have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to be among the top tier. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado stands as one of the oldest estates in the Douro. It is situated near Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The fate of this emblematic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who are responsible for the management of the company and the enology, respectively.
