One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, known as the Ferreirinha, and which remains today in the hands of her descendants. The Vallado wines had been unjustly forgotten, but now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to occupy the highest places. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado stands as one of the oldest in the Douro. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The future of this emblematic estate lies in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, and who are responsible for the company’s management and enology, respectively.
