One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the “Ferreirinha,” and which remains in the hands of her descendants today. Vallado wines had been unjustly forgotten and have now naturally reclaimed the time they lost. They are wines of great significance in the history of the Douro and deserve to be in the top ranks. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region. It is situated near Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The destiny of this emblematic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, responsible respectively for the company’s management and for its enology.
