One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and remains in the hands of her descendants to this day. Vallado wines have unfortunately been forgotten for a time and have now naturally reclaimed lost ground. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to occupy top positions. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest in the Douro. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The fate of this iconic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who are responsible for the company’s management and enology, respectively.
