One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and which remains in the hands of her descendants today. Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten, but have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve a place among the very best. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region. It is located close to Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The future of this iconic estate rests in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who oversee the company’s management and its enology, respectively.
