This Valle Pradinhos Reserva seems to have been painstakingly crafted to make us believe we’re drinking wine from a truly ancient and hallowed land. Built on a sturdy foundation of Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, with a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s brimming with the spirit of the Trás-os-Montes, amplified by 16 months in oak barrels. The result is a powerfully expressive wine, showcasing incredibly ripe black fruit – as if they’d been soaking up every ray of sunshine – alongside elegant floral notes and a subtle vanilla hint, courtesy of the oak, of course. The wine earned a respectable 91 points from a wine magazine, and the producer assures us of a long, lingering finish – a testament, no doubt, to the Pinto de Azevedo family's stewardship since 1913, with Maria, the fourth generation of female producers, taking the credit!
