This Valriz Lágrima is a wonderfully warm hug from the Douro, boasting a gorgeous golden hue – clearly the benefit of some skillful barrel ageing, like a familiar face. You’ll pick up on notes of spice and almond, alongside a refreshing lift reminiscent of the Syrah grape, though it’s the Malvasia Fina that lends a surprising vibrancy. It’s a full-bodied wine, undeniably elegant, and would be superb with grilled fresh fish and a drizzle of excellent extra virgin olive oil.
