This Van Zellers & Co. 15 Gerações Douro Tinto is a delightful journey straight to the centenary vineyards of the Douro. Crafted with a wonderfully eclectic blend of over 30 grapes – a delightfully chaotic mix, you might say – it’s the product of a painstaking 24-hour manual ‘foot treading’ process on granite lagares. Following fermentation over 12 days in stainless steel tanks, it’s then aged in new French oak barrels, destined to become a true classic. The producer assures us it’ll age beautifully in the bottle, a superb match for hearty beef dishes.
