This Vicentino Gama Nascente is a delightfully quirky wine, clearly benefiting from a touch of oak exuberance – a brief flirtation with French oak barrels, to be precise. Hand-harvested with 15kg boxes, it speaks to a rather meticulous approach. The result is a remarkably attractive ruby colour, brimming with black plum and cassis notes, playfully accompanied by violet nuances. And those hints of vanilla and spice? Undoubtedly the oak’s influence! It’s a wine with a silky texture and a refreshing saline finish – perfect with a perfectly grilled fish, I’d say.
