This Vicentino Reserva Sauvignon from the Alentejo has clearly had a bit of a playful encounter with those 350-litre oak barrels – a nine-month ageing process, to be precise. The outcome is a remarkably fresh wine, delightfully complicated, and with a surprising hint of vanilla that really pulls everything together. It seems our Sauvignon is attempting a touch of sophistication, and it would pair beautifully with fresh oysters or a cucumber and yogurt salad.
