This Vila Real Colheita has clearly decided that twelve years in oak barrels were quite enough to tame the legendary Vinhas Velhas. A touch of cognac during fermentation hints at a playful boldness, but the result is a remarkably elegant and mature Porto – perfect for pairing with a good aged cheese, or perhaps a nicely smoked trout.
