This Vila Real delivers a wonderfully familiar Douro hug, with the Tinta Barroca providing a brilliant splash of colour and the Touriga Nacional lending a solid backbone. You can really sense the influence of the Tinta Francesa – it’s got a lovely, balanced feel. Having spent six months in oak, it’s bursting with fresh red fruit aromas, a hint of spice, and, judging by the awards – including a gold medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2016 – it’s well deserved. Definitely something to pair with a good roast pork or some sausages, wouldn’t you say?
